Field Day

On Friday, in an attempt to break up the monotony of being home all day, the boys and I packed up some balls and a bat and headed down to our neighborhood field. This is the same field where we jumped in puddles and went sledding. This time we brought a soccer ball, Frisbee, two baseball gloves, a bat and ball, and a little ball for Jason. The sun was shining, there was a slight breeze that kept it from being to hot, so it was a perfect day to go outside and play.

Jonathan had the most fun playing baseball. I was so bummed when I found out that he was too young to play t-ball this summer. In our town you have to be entering kindergarten in the fall to be eligible to play. Oh well, next year. In the mean time we had our own fun. I wish I could have gotten more pictures but its hard to take pictures and pitch or bat at the same time.
I absolutely can not believe how grown up he looks in this picture. What happened to my baby Jonathan?! His glove is a little too big for him but we've since gotten him one that fits better. He had a lot of fun imitating the moves of the big league pitchers. He'd hold his glove in front of his face and then throw the ball. It was adorable!
I don't think he actually hit the ball once all day. Though I think that was more a problem with the pitcher than the hitter. Mommy doesn't pitch as well as daddy! As you can see from the picture he still had fun in spite of Mommy's poor pitching performance.
Speaking of getting big, where did my baby boy go? In the last few days he has really started preferring walking over crawling. He toddled all over the concrete pad. He ventured into the grass once but it was a little too uneven for his inexperienced little legs. It won't be long before he's running after his brother, and then we will have our hands very full!
We also played a little "catch" with Jason and his little red ball. He's starting to figure out that if he rolls it to someone they will roll it back. Unfortunately his aim is terrible and his bother rolls it back way too hard. Oh well! Both boys had fun! It was so nice to get out of the house for a little while. Stay tuned, next week we may venture to the pool!
